SLSWA Athletics Club
2011-12 Memberships for the SLSWA Athletics Club are now open on the Athletics WA website.
Season Registration
Last season we were under the AWA membership listing, whereas this season we are a standalone athletics club. This means that all registrations must go via the NEW REGISTRATIONS link, you can’t renew with your previous Athletics WA logon and password.
Go to www.waathletics.org.au, "Membership" on the toolbar, "Online Registrations" and then "New Registration". The season registration fee is only $10.
You need to be registered for the season by 5pm on the Wednesday prior to the first Friday night you are competing. This is a one off registration that generates a season number for you that can be collected on your first competition night.
Uniforms
Glenn Ross will have uniforms at the athletics stadium (near registration area) from 5pm on competition nights or can be contacted on 0421 373080. Crop tops and singlets are $30 each and bottoms are also available for $30 each or quad tights/bike shorts are acceptable.
Friday Night Competition
Athletes must sign in at registration 45 minutes before their competition is due to begin. If Athletes do not sign in 45 minutes prior they will not be able to compete. The registration desk is at the north end of the grandstand and you must add your name to the list for each event you want to enter that night. A $10 event fee is payable at that time, regardless of how many events you enter.
All athletes must wear their AWA registration numbers on the front AND back except for vertical jump events. Athletes need to marshal to the start point of their event no later than 10 minutes before start time. Blocks are provided.
Spikes
To maximise performance & prevent damage to the mondo surface, athletes must not use sharp spikes that will penetrate the surface. The mondo track is designed such that blunt spikes will depress the surface and the rebound effect will propel them forward, thereby maximising performance. As such, the only spikes permitted for use on the track are of the Christmas Tree and Pyramid shape variety as pictured below. The composition of the spike, i.e. ceramic or metal, is irrelevant and will not be monitored.
For all training and competition the spikes must conform to the below rules:
- Track spikes must not exceed 7mm
- Field spikes must not exceed 9mm except for javelin & high jump which must not exceed 12mm
For further information regarding the SLSWA Athletics Club, please contact Glenn Ross on 0421 373 080.
