City Beach Pounders

Learn to Paddle & Surf Ski

The City Beach Pounders (motto "Old Dogs New Tricks") offer an opportunity for beginners to learn to Paddle and Surf Ski. Last year some 30 regulars went from never having paddled to being able to enjoy a great sport that provides great exercise.

The Pounders cater for all ages, all sexes and all abilities, so don't be shy we are keen to help more people learn to paddle for fun and fitness. Our process is simple, you start on a cross trainer (very easy you will be paddling on day one), progress to a plastic ski (a bit harder), and then to a fibreglass ski (trickier, but worth the effort).

Our group ranges from 15 year old girls to 50+ grandfathers, to mums just wanting to have a short paddle to some serious paddlers who have progressed rapidly in twelve short months.

You too can learn skills like this!

The best way to find out is come to our beginner's sessions and give it a go. For more information ring Ken Richards and have a chat on 0403 385 051. Beginner Sessions start the first Saturday in September at the Johnson Street boat ramp, Peppermint Grove at 8.00am.
