Education & Classes

To become a better lifesaver you’re going to need some training.

Please watch this website and read the newsletter for the next available courses.

Please note courses are only available to financial members and are run by volunteer trainers so timing is subject to availability and SLSWA assessor availability.

We encourage all parents of nippers to the complete Surf Rescue Certificate for water safety to enhance their child’s and their own enjoyment of the nipper program.

Need to complete and education course?

The availability of Education courses is dependent on the availability of trainers and assessors.  The club maintains a register of members who are needing to complete a course, whether for competition requirements or patrolling requirements.

To be added to the Education Course Register please download and complete this FORM.

Annual proficiency

By the 31st of December each year all active members must requalify their awards. Mass proficiency tests are conducted by the club on an annual basis for SRC and Bronze holders with dates advertised to members. You MUST have renewed your membership for the season BEFORE attending a proficiency testing session. Any member who is not proficient shall not be allowed to perform patrols or water safety, operate rescue craft or compete in lifesaving competition.
