Club members had their final hit-out before next week's State Championships on Sunday, at the 2008 Club Championships. With a tricky shorebreak providing the highlights for spectators, a number of our senior competitors went through their paces. Sleeping in through the first few events paid off for Simon Huitenga who won the Open Ironman from James Cohen and Ben Carrick, while Alicia Marriott (also fashionably late on the day) won the women's event. Other highlights included Australian Open Beach Sprint Champion Dean Scarff being left in second place by Shane Buchan, and series of selection trials for "patient draggers" for next weekend's Rescue Tube Rescue races. * All placings are subject to members completing patrol and other requirements, as contained in the club By-Laws Video
