On Saturday the club's Champion Lifesaver event was held, with Grant Trew, Kim Lovett and Jessie Cohen the winners.
The event tests competitors all-round skills as they complete a 40 question theory paper, are judged on resuscitation technique, and contest a surf race, board race, tube race and beach sprint.
A total of eight club members took part, contesting three divisions - Open Men, Open Women and Under 17 Women. For some it was their first time in the event, and the experience gained will be valuable when the State Championship events are held later this month.
