Scarff And Marriott To Race For Australia
8th November 2007

City's Dean Scarff and Alicia Marriott have been selected in the Australian Team to compete in the International Centenary Challenge at Bondi Beach.

National selection comes as a fitting reward for years of hard work which has culminated in recent outstanding results; Dean won the Open Men's Beach Sprint at last year's Australian Championships, while just a few weeks ago Alicia became the first WA winner of the Coolangatta Gold.

The International Challenge event will mark the climax of 2007 - The Year of the Surf Lifesaver. Along with the Interstate Challenge, it will take place at Bondi beach in Sydney from November 29 to December 2.

Dean and Alicia will contest the Under 23 events against teams from New Zealand, South Africa, USA, Great Britain and Japan. They will be joined in the team by former City member Emma Wynne, now living in Queensland.

WA is well represented with the North Cottesloe Boat Crew and beach sprinter Tom Nolan (who finished second to Dean at the Aussies) also named in the Australian Team.
