The trials for the State team were held at Scarborough Beach on Saturday. City's seniors and juniors put in some impressive performances both in the water and on the sand.
Naming people who are likely to make the team is always dangerous given the vagaries of selections and that one doesn't have access to the complete results but a few competitors earmarked themselves with impressive performances.
Probably the most encouraging aspect was the sheer number of quality City competitors and their high state of fitness so early in the season.
The state team will compete at Bondi in the first week of December in what is to be a spectacular finale to the Year of The Lifesaver. Apart from the Interstate competition there will be a number of International competitions including an Under 23 competition.
The team, comprising a total of 42 U/13, U/14, U/15, U/17, U/17 and Open competitors, as well as male and a female boat crew, should be announced in the next fortnight.
