States 2007
11th March 2007

City had another hugely successful State Championships last weekend.

Conditions were ideal, with a nice wave keeping things interesting in the water, while the new Scarborough amphitheatre made the beach events a highlight for spectators. After two days of furious, hard-fought and occasionally controversial competition City ended up second on the pointscore and collected 38 Gold, 34 Silver and 34 Bronze medals.

Ben Carrick was awarded the Bernie Kelly Medal as the most outstanding competitor of the carnival. Ben's results included gold in the Open Champion Lifesaver, U19 Ironman, U19 Taplin and Ski Relays, and both Open and U19 Board Rescue, plus a number of silver and bronze medals.
