Thong Challenge
6th January 2007

On Australia Day this year the club will be taking part in an attempt to break a world record. This is no normal world record - the challenge is to beat 863 people lying on inflatable airbeds (actually giant thongs) from end to end.

Last years record-breaking effort was held over east and this year we will be joining five other beaches around the country in an attempt to beat the record.

Record attempts will also be made at Coogee in New South Wales, St Kilda beach in Victoria, Glenelg in South Australia and Currumbin Creek in Queensland.

Helpers are required from 9am till 11:30am on Friday the 26th of January. This event will raise around $5000 for the club and we need around fifteen people to help marshal and lay on rescue boards for water safety.

All helpers need to have their Bronze or SRC and will receive a $20 bar voucher. It will only take a few hours with around 45 minutes actually spent in the water.

If you're available to help on the day, please contact Grant Trew via email or on 0422 075406 ASAP to register.

More information about the event can be seen at www.havaianas.com.au, or here.
