Coolangatta Gold

City's Alicia Marriott and Alison O'Toole have taken on one of the country's toughest races, the Coolangatta Gold. They performed outstandingly, Alicia finishing second and Alison in seventh place.

The race was run on the Gold Coast today for the first time in thirteen years, and for the first time included a women's event.

The women's race involves a 10km ski from Greenmount to Currumbin, a 5.5km board leg from Currumbin to Burleigh Heads, a 2.5km swim to North Burleigh and a 7.5km run to Surfers Paradise.

Alicia performed strongly to finish second in a time of 2 hours, 27 minutes and 16 seconds, just two and a half minutes behind the winner, Queenslander Haley Bateup.

Alison was not far behind, finishing in seventh place in a time of 2:30:35.
