International Surf Challenge

Emma Wynne has helped the Australian team to victory in the International Surf Challenge, held at Kurrawa in Queensland immediately following the Australian Championships.

The event was held over two days, and included teams from Australia, New Zealand, USA, Great Britain and Japan.

On Day One of the competition Emma took out the Women's Surf Race, with 2004 and 2005 Australian Champion Amanda White in second place, and was also part of the winning Australian Tube Rescue team.

Emma and Amanda then joined Chris Allum and Matt Freeman in a surf team that finished second to New Zealand.

On Day Two, Emma again took out the women's surf race, and joined Kristyl Smith, Kirsty Munroe and Lisa Wright to win the Taplin Relay. The Tube Rescue team finished second this time, but the Surf Team reversed the previous days result by beating New Zealand.

Australia won both days of competition to take out the overall title ahead of New Zealand and Great Britain.

International competition continues later in the year with the World Games to be held in Germany in July, and Rescue 2006 (the World Lifesaving Championships) in Victoria next February. After her recent results Emma is hopeful of being selected in the Australian team for those events, though some are questioning whether she has been held back by not being given a start in the Beach Sprint or Flags events.

Full results can be seen at the Rescue 2006 website.
