Interstate Challenge

City's State Team members, led by Jacinta Marriott, have produced some outstanding results at the Interstate Challenge at Jan Juc in Victoria on Sunday, helping to put Western Australia into third place.

With a big surf running, the City girls gave notice that they will be a force at March's Australian Championships, with first placings in four Open events.

Jacinta Marriott led the charge, with wins in both the Board and Ski Races. Emma Wynne then won the Surf Race, and Jacinta and Emma combined to take out the Board Rescue.

In the Under 19's, Alicia Marriott led the Ironwoman before losing her way in the big seas. Forced to backtrack around a swim can, she finished third. Alicia was also third in her Surf Race, which combined with Emma's swim to record another first place in the Surf Team event.

In the Open Ironwoman event, Jacinta finished in third place.

Overall, W.A. finished third in the pointscore, just 20 points off N.S.W. in second place. This is a huge improvement on last year, where W.A. won only one event for the carnival and finished fourth overall. The improvement was reflected in W.A.'s winning the Handicap Trophy.

On Saturday, the Junior team had their event. The highlight came late in the day, when the Under 16 Ironman and Ironwoman events were held as a combined race due to time constraints. Queensland's Ryan Lysaught came out first, closely followed by James Cohen. Third across the line and first of the girls was Emma Wynne, whose only disappointment was that she didn't beat James.

The Junior team finished fourth overall.

Full results of all City's State Team members will be posted here when available
