Emma Wynne

Emma Wynne is one of City's most talented surf swimmers. Originally from Queensland, Emma joined City as an Under 16 in 2002 and had an immediate impact, winning six gold medals at the 2003 State Championships.

At that year's Australian Championships, Emma won her first national medal as a member of the Under 19 Women's Surf Team.

In the 2003-04 season, Emma exploded onto the national scene. Still an Under 16, she was selected in both the Senior and Junior State Teams, and won the Open Women's Surf Race at the Interstate Challenge.

At the 2004 State Championships Emma won an incredible eleven gold medals from eleven events, and was awarded the Bernie Kelly medal.

Emma then won six medals - two gold, one silver and three bronze - at the Australian Championships in Queensland, the most medals ever won in a single Australian Championships carnival by a Western Australian competitor.

In 2005, Emma qualified as the youngest competitor in the national Kellogg's Nutri-Grain IronMan Series, in which she finished fifth. She again won the Bernie Kelly Medal at the State Championships, with thirteen gold medals. At the Australian Championships Emma won her first individual Australian gold, in the Under 17 Women's Surf Race. Emma's total medal haul of four gold, a silver and a bronze saw her awarded the Female Competitor of the Carnival and she was selected in the Australian teams for the international challenge series held at Kurrawa directly after the Aussies, and the World Games in Germany later in the year.

2006 was another successful year for Emma, finishing third in the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain IronMan Series, winning nine gold medals at the State Championships and being awarded the Bernie Kelly medal for the third successive year. At the Australian Championships Emma won five medals, including gold in the Under 19 Women's Surf Race.

Unfortunately the elite competitive opportunities offered by the east coast meant an inevitable move back to Queensland, with Emma going to North Burleigh at the end of the 2005-06 season.
