Brett Slocombe

Brett Slocombe joined City from Trigg Island at the beginning of the 1992-93 season. A finalist in the Open Beach Flags at the 1992 Australian Championships, the switch to be coached by City legend Leigh Buchan brought quick results, with Brett winning State gold in the Men's Flags and the1993 Australian Championships Men's Beach Relay. He then went on to take Gold in the flags at the Australian Championships, and a bronze in the relay. This was the club's second individual gold in an open event, after Brad Trotter's 1973 Open Beach Sprint.

The following year Brett became the first City member to successfully defend an Australian Championship, as well as picking up silver in the Beach Relay.

Brett then travelled to England for the World Championships where he again won the Men's Beach Flags, and teamed up with Stuart Love, Hisham Scarff and Brad Smith to finally win gold in the relay.

Following his World Championship success, Brett was selected to captain an Australian representative team to compete at the Japanese national championships, where he won both the Men's Beach Sprint and Beach Flags.
