Alicia Marriott

Alicia Marriott joined City from Floreat in 2001. A hugely talented board paddler and swimmer, she quickly began racking up State Championships, often in combination with her equally talented older sister Jacinta.

Alicia's first Australian medal, a bronze, came in the Under 19 Women's Surf Teams at Kurrawa in 2003. Three fourth placings, a fifth and two sixths that year served as a warning of what was to come.

State Championships 2005
Alicia won ten gold medals at the 2004 State Championships and was awarded the Bernie Kelly medal. She then went on to the Australian Championships where she collected two gold, a silver and two bronze - more medals than any City competitor had ever won at a single Championships before.

In 2005 Alicia continued to improve, winning 13 State Championships and another two Australian golds, including a successful defence of the Under 19 Board Rescue title won with Emma Wynne the year before. She also collected her first individual Australian medals with silvers in the Under 19 Surf Race and Board Race.

In 2006 Alicia proved herself to be among the best Open competitors in the nation. She finished second in the Coolangatta Gold, fourth in the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain IronMan Series, and won six golds at the State Championships. At the Australian Championships Alicia won three medals, the highlight being a silver in the Open Ironwoman.

National success continued in 2007. Alicia again finished fourth in the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain IronMan Series, and even though the final round of that series was on the same weekend as the WA State Championships she still managed to get back in time to win three gold medals, including her fourth Open Ironwoman title. Alicia then put in a number of stong performances at the Australian Championships at Scarborough, winning a silver medal in the Open Women's Board Race, and partnering sister Jacinta for a bronze in the Open Women's Board Rescue.

International Centenary Challenge, Bondi 2007
The 2007-08 season was Alicia Marriott's year. She began in October by winning the Coolangatta Gold, and then was selected in the Australian team for the International Challenge at Bondi in December. That weekend was capped off with the Interstate Challenge, where Alicia won both the Board Race and Ironwoman. Alicia then dominated the Kellogg's Ironwoman Series after a slow start, winning the last three rounds but narrowly failing to take the overall title. At the State Championships Alicia won three gold medals, including her fifth straight Open Ironwoman title, and became the club's most prolific State Championship winner with a total of 48 gold medals to her name. Alicia went into the Australian Championships at Scarborough with the eyes of the entire nation on her and carrying the weight of runaway favourite for the Ironwoman crown. She handled the pressure spectacularly and produced her finest individual results yet, winning both the Open Women's Surf Race and Ironwoman and finishing third in the Board Race.

2008-09 was less spectacular for Alicia, but still she managed a top ten finish in the Kellogg's series and was a regular member of the Australian team. At the State Championships Alicia won an incredible eight Open gold medals and at the Aussies another two gold, in the Surf Team and Board Relay events.

At the end of the 2008-09 season, Alicia moved to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland in search of new challenges with the Mooloolaba club.
