The City of Perth Surf Life Saving Club is located at City Beach in Perth, Western Australia.

The club was formed in 1924 by members of the City of Perth Amateur Swimming Club, to provide a volunteer water safety and surf rescue service. It has now grown to become one of Australia's largest and most successful surf life saving clubs.

The club patrols a 2 kilometre stretch of beach, from the Swanbourne rifle range to the Floreat groyne.

Members patrol the beach between the hours of 9am and 5pm on weekends and public holidays from October 1 to March 31 each year.

ResuscitationLIFESAVING AWARDS

All active members are required to gain either the Surf Rescue Certificate (13 to 15 year olds) or the Bronze Medallion (15 years and up) before they are eligible to do beach patrols or compete in any interclub competition.

Once these awards are gained, other specialist awards are available such as the Advanced Resuscitation Certificate and Inflatable Rescue Boat Driver's Certificate. Awards in Instruction and Examination are also available.

COMPETITION

Surf RaceClub swimming and running events are held on Sunday mornings for all club members. These events help members maintain fitness, as well as promoting a healthy club spirit.

Active members may compete in interclub competition, in swimming, board and ski paddling, running and surf boat rowing events. There are also lifesaving events such as First Aid, Champion Lifesaver and Champion Patrol competitions.

Each year the club is well represented at the Australian Championships.

For those who just want to have a go and try something new, beginner sessions and more casual squads are available, while the City Beach Pounders are all about participation and "old dogs learning new tricks".
