Rescue and Resuscitation
The Rescue and Resuscitation (R&R) competition provides the opportunity for members to demonstrate in a competitive manner some traditional rescue and resuscitation techniques used in Surf Life Saving.
Although the reel, line and belt have been replaced in our beach patrols in recent times, the event continues to provide a valuable contribution to teamwork, patient care and handling, resuscitation skills, and surf awareness.
City has long had an association with the event going back to our foundation years, with both men’s and ladies’ teams competing with distinction. Cadet and junior teams have been successful in state championships over the years, with a number of minor places gained at Australian level. It was not until1990 that the club was able to win its first open (senior) state championship, with the following two decades recording many wins at all levels.
